Well I’ve been fed up with my long hair for some time now. I know, I know before you have a go at me about my hair. I do love and appreciate it. And I know not everybody can grow hair so easily as me. But long, straight hair every day all day just wasn’t doing it for me anymore. I would have cut it to shoulder length, like I had it 2 years ago. However the dreaded in between stage when I wanna grow my hair longer again kept me from cutting it. So to give my hair a new look I bought a curling wand. My first ever curling tool at 24 (lol). Before I only ever owned a hair dryer.
I didn’t wanna spend too much money so I went on to ASOS and had a look. Owning a Babyliss Hair Dryer and being really happy with it, I went with the Babyliss Boutique Soft Waves Curling Wand. I don’t like the tight curls, I’m more for waves so this Curling Wand does just the job for me -loose curls for days!
How to get those loose curls
After watching some youtube tutorials I just went for it. First I sprayed my hair with this heat protecting spray recommended by my dear friend (L’Oréal Hot & Curls Heat Protecting Spray). And this really helps with keeping the curls in my hair for 2 days at least.
Parting my hair in the middle I start with the right side. Working my way from the back to the front – taking random small pieces and curling them at 180°C for like 20 sec. Once I’m done with the right side, I spray the curls with some of the John Frieda Frizz ease Styling Spray for Curls.
Then I move on to the left side and repeat the steps. After I’m done curling all my hair, I run my fingers trough it to loosen it up. On the second day I spray my hair with some more styling spray from John Frieda and that’s me done.
I really like how my hair is looking and it just makes me excited to wear my hair down again and not all the time in a ponytail or braid etc. Here are some other hair tutorials if you’re interested (hair bow, upside down braid, crown braid, waterfall braid).
I haven’t figured out on how I get the curls to stay for three days but two days is already good (I think at least). Any advice on how to get my loose curls to stay even longer is appreciated.

Love the curls! I do this to my hair and to my daughter’s. I’m definitely going to try the products you recommended though! Thanks!
Thanks Jenn. xx
Love the soft waves! I have been experimenting more with curls for the summer months as I feel they are more suited to this time of year!
Thanks Kate. I’m so happy I started doing curls, so much fun isn’t it?! xx
I love your hair color and your curls!! It came out so pretty. I also have the same tool you are using, but I always have a difficult time curling my hair… http://www.clairebearblogs.com
Thanks Claire! I guess my love for different hairstyles has helped with how to curl my hair, although my right side is always more difficult to curl ;). xx
You do have gorgeous hair babe!! But I do know what you mean when sometimes you get sick and tired of your own hair. I’m constantly there!! Haha!! I’ve just myself started to add loose curls to my hair. I’m lucky if mine stay with a slight curl for more than two days!!
