How long has it been since you saw a nail post on this blog? Yes, a long, long time. But I am back with a new one for you! Today I am showing you how you can create those simple red nails with a little twist.
Just recently I got into wearing bolder nail colours again and it just had to be red. Red has always been a favourite colour of mine and I do think it always looks really classy on the nails.
Red nails with a twist
All you need for this manicure is a base coat, a red nail polish, a top coat and some thin metallic stripes.
Apply your base coat or you could alternatively do a gel overlay on your nails (all explained in this post). Once your base coat is dry you move on to your red nail polish. I opted for this lovely red from YSL in the colour Orange Fusion. It’s a bright red with an ever so slight hint of orange. Perfect for an everyday red! I applied two coats and let it dry completely.
Now on to the fun part. For creating the metallic stripes I got myself some thin metallic tape from Essence. It was in a pack of threes. You get a silver, gold and rose gold tape. For my red nails with a twist, I went with the rose gold one. I cut some tape and started placing it on to the nails.
Try placing it in the centre. However, you can go crazy with it. Make some geometric designs etc. Free your imagination! I keep it fairly simple and just did one line down the middle. The tape is sticky so it stays wherever you place it. Once you have it on the nail, trim the edges and press the metallic tape down real nice. Then it’s time for the top coat. Apply, let it dry and you are done!
I’m in love with my nails. It has been so fun wearing colour again on my nails after months of nude and pale pinks.
How do you like my red nails with a twist? Would you wear something like that too? Let me know in the comments down below.

I’m slightly confused as to why this is called orange fusion when it looks very red on camera but that colour is gorgeous! I’ve never tried YSL polish before but they look great x

Well in some light a little orange does come through but just really ever so slightly. But you are right it’s more red than orange.
This red is absolutely amazing! I love red nail polish! And this thin line is so nice! Loving the whole look of it! xx corinne

Love this!! If these are your natural nails, I’m insanely jealous haha – I can never grow mine! (Also I’ve had my eye on that Mejuri ring for so long, and I think you just tempted me to get it!)

Thank you so much Rachael. xx
This is beautiful ?? I’m guessing the color is like a red orange? I think this looks so professional and easy to do. The metallic stripe is a great accent! ?

Thanks Lena. Yes, you are guessing right depending on the light a little orange is coming through. xx
